Marpissa muscosa est une araignée paléarctique de grande taille (le mâle et la femelle pouvant atteindre 8 mm, sans les pattes, à l'âge adulte).
Le céphalothorax est sombre avec une dominante brune et porte des bandes de poils clairs. L'abdomen peut varier du gris au brun.
Cette araignée fréquente les arbres et s'abrite sous l'écorce (si celle-ci, bien sûr, comporte des anfractuosités).
C'est une espèce très commune.
